Oklahoma Federation of Indian Women

On November 01, 1969, forty-nine women from different tribes came to the Indian Women’s Conference.  They focused on the thoughts and views of the Indian women and her role in present society.  On that day, the Oklahoma Federation of Indian Women was formed.

The object of the Federation shall be to create a bond of friendship among the members, to promote action of purpose in preserving the cultural heritage and identity of each Indian tribe, and to develop ways of depicting the Indian women as taking her place in the world today.
