Devon Frazier
2011 Miss Indian Oklahoma

Devon Frazier is the nineteen year old daughter of Lisa and Rick Frazier. She has two younger sisters, Andee and Kendell Frazier. Her paternal grandparents and great-grandparents are Mary Gibson and Edward "Dewey" Frazier, and Marie Gibson and the late Richard Gibson. Her maternal grandparents and great-grandparents are Teresa White and David Johnson, Delores White and the late Leroy White, and Pauline Johnson and the late Henry "Cheese" Johnson. She a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe; and is also of Oklahoma Choctaw, Delaware, and Caddo descent. Her Shawnee name is We-yi-wa-la-me which means "Strong horse woman leading"; and is a member of the horse clan. Devon actively participates in her Shawnee traditions including Fall and Spring bread-dances, stomp-dances, and Indian football. She believes that actively participating in tribal traditions will ensure the prosperity of the diverse culture of all Native people.


Devon is a 2010 graduate from Little Axe High School, ranked seventh of her graduating class and the only 2010 Oklahoma Academic Scholar honoree from Little Axe. During her high school career, she was a member of National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Native American Club, Scholastic Representative for History and English, Show Choir, and Drama. She was also a 2009 Middle West Fast-pitch All-State recipient and made three high school State Fast-pitch Tournament appearances in 2007-2009.

She is currently a sophomore student attending Saint Gregory's University in Shawnee, Oklahoma under a fast-pitch softball athletic scholarship. Devon is on the President's Honor Roll for upholding a 4.0 grade point average over the course of her freshman year. As well as being a student-athlete, she is also a member of the Native American Study Group, a founding member of the Native American Student Association and Cultural Awareness Organization, and a Pro-Life Team supporter. Devon is a strong advocate for continued education after high school. Hoping to be a role model for all Native people, she continues to strive and preach that despite tough circumstances everyone can gain a higher education. Devon is majoring in history with an emphasis on anthropology and mythology.

Her plans after college are to attend graduate school at Oklahoma University for Native American studies. Devon resides with her family in Little Axe, Oklahoma.

 
Raven Morgan
2011 Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma

Raven Morgan is the 15 year-old daughter of Victor & LaRenda Rickman Morgan of Oklahoma City. Raven is Pawnee, Cheyenne-Arapaho, Otoe and Muskogee Creek tribes. Raven is an enrolled member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma. She attends Moore Public Schools. Raven has one older brother Victor Morgan Jr. and two dogs, Sam & Roscoe. Raven has previously held the titles of 2007 Oklahoma Indian Bikers Princess, 2008 Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma City, 2010-2011 Pawnee Nation Princess.


On her maternal side of her family, Raven was given the Cheyenne name Ma'etomoná'e meaning RedPaintWoman. Raven is the granddaughter of Micki Black (Cheyenne-Arapaho) of El Reno OK & Chester & Edwina Whiteman (Cheyenne) of Geary OK. Raven is the great granddaughter and a Arapaho Lumpmouth Descendent of the late Edward Lumpmouth Black Sr. (Arapaho) and the late Rev. Joann Black-Williams (Cheyenne) , an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church and descendent of the Sand Creek Massacre. In both Cheyenne & Arapaho sides of Raven's heritage are roots in Native American Church.

Raven is the granddaughter of the late Forrest Rickman (Otoe) & the great granddaughter of Charles & Clarice Deroin-Rickman (Otoe) of Ponca City. She is the great, great granddaughter of William & Daisy Roubideaux-Deroin (Otoe). Her Otoe family were also were members of the Native American Church.

On her paternal side of her family Raven is Kitkihahtki, Skidi, Chaui, Pitahawirata Bands of Pawnee. Her Pawnee name is Chupitit Taka translated Morning Star or Brightest Star. She is the granddaughter of Tom & Margaret Morgan (Pawnee) of Oklahoma City OK. She is the great granddaughter of the late William & Mamie Grant Morgan (Pawnee) and the great, great granddaughter of Pawnee Chief Tom & Susie Morgan. Chief Tom Morgan was the last Pawnee Chief over all four bands of the Pawnee & was a charter member in the Pawnee Chapter of Native American Church and the originator of the Morgan Family fireplace. Raven was named after her great grandmother Mamie Morgan.

Raven is also of the granddaughter of the Late Patricia Posey Morgan, (Muskogee Creek) and the great granddaughter of Tom & Betty Posey (Muskogee Creek) who were Charter members of Glorieta Indian Baptist Church of Oklahoma City, OK.

Raven is a member of the El Reno Indian Fellowship United Methodist Church as well as Jay Mule's Morning Star Ministries. She is also involved in school organizations and has served on head staff for dances and powwows. Raven competes in the Southern Cloth dance competitions.

Raven would like to thank her family and friends for their support. She looks forward to representing the Oklahoma Federation of Indian Woman, the State of Oklahoma, all tribes, and her family and friends during her 2011 Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma reign.
