MISS & JR. MISS INDIAN OKLAHOMA SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT

The titles of Miss (MIO) and Junior Miss Indian Oklahoma (JMIO) are owned by the OFIW. MIO and JMIO serve as goodwill ambassadors that represent OFIW, state and tribes of Oklahoma. The first Miss Indian Oklahoma was crowned in 1973, and the first Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma was crowned ten years later in 1983.                                                                                    

Contestants in the MIO and JMIO pageant must possess cultural knowledge of their tribes and are required to compete in areas of; personal interview, tribal greeting, traditional talent, impromptu question, essay, description of tribal dress, and to present a platform regarding a current issue facing Indian Country.  The Miss & Jr. Miss Indian Oklahoma Scholarship Fund has been reinstated and the titleholders shall receive a scholarship at the completion of their reign.
